A Century Old Letter from the Trenches of World War I

Christmas brings a message of peace against the violence of our time and all times.  As a small piece of history, in order not to forget the violence of war, let me share a letter sent by my grandfather a century ago from the trenches of World War I. It is available here. The original hand-written letter in French is available here.

  1. Quentin:

Thank you for sharing this very poignant view into a horrific time in our world’s history. Wishing you and yours Peace in the coming year and beyond.

  2. Thank you Quentin for sharing your Grandfathers letter.

In the middle of the horrors of water, mud, high explosive and deafening noise, its the extraordinary tale of the warmed slippers that demonstrates the incongruity of war.

    Best wishes
